Redesigning REA's Inspection Experience

2024 · UX Designer · Individual Project, RMIT University

Enhancing the inspection planning and management experience on REA — making it easier for property buyers to schedule multiple visits in a single day.

Problem Statement

Through user research and interviews, three pain points emerged: difficulty adding properties to an inspection plan, conflicting inspection times that made planning inefficient, and limited visibility of critical details like price and interest level during planning.

Research Process

Desk research mapped the full user journey from search to inspection. User interviews surfaced scheduling challenges. Storyboards and a paper prototype tested early ideas, then moderated usability tests shaped the next iteration. Used Impact-Effort matrix to prioritize: route planning, better visibility for "Add Notes" / "Add to Plan", and centralized inspection management.

Result

A clickable medium-fidelity prototype with prominent conflict resolution within the planner, visual interest-level markers, integrated map and route planning, and a fixed planner bar so users keep context. Every decision backed by research — usability testing synthesized for next iterations.
